iTunes to MP3 Conversion

The files that are bought from an iTunes store are all generally DRM protected. This means that these files cannot be played on just any device or media player. To avoid this particular problem these files can be converted into one of the most used formats known as the MP3. Converting any file into a MP3 file depends on whether it was protected by DRM or not.

Conversion of Non-Protected Files –

iTunes can be used to convert files into MP3:

· Start iTunes

· Go to ‘Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Importing’ and change ‘Import Using’ into ‘MP3 Encoder’

· Save settings

· Select ‘Convert Selection to MP3’ after right-clicking onto a music track in the library. The conversion can be done if the track has not been protected. In case it is protected, then there will be a pop-up informing that a protected track can’t be converted.

Conversion of Protected Files –

· To convert protected files start with burning them to an audio disc.

· Open the audio disc and add all the files to your library using iTunes.

· Click on ‘Convert Selection to MP3’

· A CD emulator may be used to simulate the actual CD burner in order to avoid multiple CD-R discs in case you have a large number of files that need to be converted.
